About Guitar Lessons With Justin
As a player for over 19 years and a continuous student, I know what it's like to be overwhelmed by musical tastes and I know the struggle you go through to incorporate those influences into your own playing. I know what plateaus feel like and how to overcome them. I hold a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Music Performance from Winthrop University. Before that, I studied at Berklee College of Music, the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, SC and took 3 years of private lessons from East Coast Music Mall in Danbury, CT. I now hold the title of "Charlie 1" from the Army School of Music, a designation reserved for musicians that score in the top of their class on the Army Music Proficiency Assessment.
While I have taught all ages, the majority of my students are intermediate to advanced players that are looking to learn more about music theory, jazz, as well as music marketing techniques for emerging artists.
I like to give my students immediate advice and feedback and guide them as we work towards their musical goals and establish a system for well-rounded musical development. Think of me as your personal musical consultant that's here to help you elevate your playing!
Are Online Guitar Lessons Right For You?
Online guitar lessons aren't for everyone. I have found that beginner guitar students typically learn best in person. Intermediate to Advanced students will usually get the most out of online guitar lessons.
They are great for stay-at-home parents, people who travel frequently, bad weather days, students who wish to study with a teacher that lives in a different city or any guitarists that do not have the time to spare for the commitment of taking in-person guitar lessons.
Request a Free Video Consultation and we can discuss whether online guitar lessons would be a good fit for you.

Preparing For That Big Audition?
I can help! I have been there before. I have been on both sides of auditions and I know how to prepare so that you can perform under those high-pressure musical situations. We will tailor your lessons to meet the requirements of college music programs, band auditions, and military band auditions. We can even talk about preparing for interviews for jobs within the music business and how to present yourself professionally.

“Justin is a gifted guitar teacher and I would recommend him to anyone interested in learning how to become a better guitar player. During my lessons with him, I’ve found him to be a good listener, with a valuable ability to see where I am musically and how to get me closer to where I want to be. Before I worked with Justin, I found myself overwhelmed by jazz theory and the vast concepts involved. But he has helped me break things down into manageable concepts, giving me the ability to simplify the music, and to translate that into an enhanced ability to play the music I love.”
